POSITION SUMMARY: 

As the organization's public face and, frequently, the initial point of contact for all beneficiaries seeking legal counsel and services related to legal aid, the advocate occupies a pivotal role within the organisation. Court cases will be given to the advocate, who will handle them in a way that best serves the interests of the client being represented. It is expected of him or her to work diligently, sincerely, and conscientiously to further the goal of expanding access to justice. Under the direction and supervision of the section head, the role will perform routine jail visits and field visits. It will also be accountable for keeping daily logs and diaries and creating reports on the status of cases on a quarterly, monthly and bimonthly basis. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The advocate will be responsible for performing the following duties but shall not be limited to: 

Adhering to litigation check-lists to guarantee that all necessary data is supplied appropriately and preserved for situations involving gender-based violence,  

Conduct customer interviews to learn about their needs and obtain pertinent information. 

Organise daily activities with clients and provide them with updates.  

updating the CMS's data.  

holding talks with the stakeholders in LAS.  

Keeping the case files updated and organised.  

daily diligently pursuing matters in front of tribunals and courts.  

draughting all litigation-related documents, including pleadings, applications, affidavits, written statements, and petitions.  

carrying out investigation.  

ensuring adherence to the internal bylaws of the Litigation Department of the Legal Aid Society, Chapter III.

REQUIREMENTS AND CORE COMPETENCIES 

LLB from a university accredited by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).  

enrolled in the High Court's Advocate program. 

sufficient knowledge of Pakistani laws and legal processes.  

competent in handling court procedures, conducting legal research, and draughting.  

Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required for draughting apps.  

Microsoft Excel proficiency is required for monthly and quarterly reporting.  

English at an advanced level suitable for reading, writing, and creating a variety of reports. proficiency in both Urdu and Sindhi.  

Inventive, vivacious, and able to operate autonomously with little guidance.  

strong collaboration abilities.  

the capacity to communicate and network with the community.  

showed maturity, drive, and adaptability.  

a readiness to labour and endure difficult living circumstances.  

compassion for defending basic rights, assisting marginalised groups in society, and granting access to the legal system.
